Online Point and WxText Archive

The SSEC Data Center's online POINT and WxTEXT data archive is currently available via McIDAS-X ADDE only.

A valid McIDAS user login and project number is required to access this data.

WxTEXT DATA

To Access the WXTEXT Data

Point to the WXTEXT ADDE Group on the Archive Server

DATALOC ADD AWXTEXT GEOARC04.SSEC.WISC.EDU or DATALOC ADD AWXTEXT 128.104.108.68

You will need to use GRO=AWXTEXT and DAY=ccyyddd in all ADDE requests.

Text commands that will work directly from the server or after downloading locally:

WXTLIST, WWDISP, WWLIST

Note that other Text commands (ie. TAFRPT, MOSRPT, OBSRPT, etc.) will not work from the archive server or locally, as they utilize a different server that is only available on our real-time XCD system.

To Access the POINT Data

Point to the POINT ADDE Group on the Archive Server

DATALOC ADD APOINT GEOARC04.SSEC.WISC.EDU or DATALOC ADD APOINT 128.104.108.68

You will need to use SEL='DAY ccyyddd' in all ADDE requests.

Point data will need to be to copied locally for analysis or processing

Point commands that will work directly from the server or after downloading locally:

PTCOPY (requires McIDAS-X 2009.2 or later to copy from the server), PTLIST, PTDISP, PTCON, SFCMG, SFCLIST (without the 'nhours' positional parameter)

Point commands that will require downloading the data locally first:

UAPLOT, UALIST, UACROSS
SFCPLOT, SFCCON, RAOBPLOT, RAOBCON
