  •  The SSEC Data Center’s online POINT and WxTEXT data archive is currently available via McIDAS-X ADDE only. 
  •  A valid McIDAS user login and project number is required to access this data.

 

WxTEXT DATA

To Access the WXTEXT Data

  • Point to the WXTEXT ADDE Group on the Archive Server

    • DATALOC ADD AWXTEXT GEOARC.SSEC.WISC.EDU  or
    • DATALOC ADD AWXTEXT 128.104.109.243
  • You will need to use  GRO=AWXTEXT
    and  DAY=ccyyddd in all  ADDE requests.
  • Text commands that will work directly from the server or after
    downloading locally:

    • WXTLIST, WWDISP, WWLIST
  • Note that other Text commands (ie. TAFRPT, MOSRPT, OBSRPT,
    etc.) will not work from the archive server or locally,  as they utilize
    a different server that is only available on our real-time XCD system.

POINT Data

       To Access the POINT Data

    • Point to the POINT ADDE Group on the Archive Server
      • DATALOC ADD APOINT GEOARC.SSEC.WISC.EDU  or  DATALOC ADD APOINT 128.104.109.243
    •  You will need to use SEL=’DAYccyyddd‘in all ADDE requests.
    • Point data will need to be to copied locally for analysis or processing
      • Point commands that will work directly from the server or
        after downloading locally:

        • PTCOPY (requires McIDAS-X 2009.2 or later to copy from the
          server), PTLIST, PTDISP, PTCON, SFCMG, SFCLIST (without the ‘nhours’ positional parameter)
      • Point commands that will require downloading the data locally:
        • UAPLOT, UALIST, UACROSS
        • SFCPLOT, SFCCON, RAOBPLOT, RAOBCON
