If your site obtains McIDAS-X upgrades from the McIDAS Users' Group Web Site, complete the Obtaining McIDAS-X 2004 from the MUG Web Site . If your site obtains upgrades via CD, complete the Obtaining McIDAS-X 2004 via CD instructions.
The McIDAS-X 2004 package contains the files below.

1. Use your Web browser to download the files listed above. Access the McIDAS Users' Group Web Site, and follow the link for the McIDAS-X software. Each site has its own login and password for downloading files. Contact the McIDAS Help Desk if you can't remember yours.
2. Log on to the McIDAS-X workstation as user mcidas and move the downloaded files to the ~mcidas directory.
3. List the files and check the ownership. If the McIDAS-X files are owned by user mcidas , skip steps 4-6.
4. Change the ownership to user mcidas , if needed. You must have root permission to do this. Switch to user root .
5. Change to the ~mcidas directory.
6. Run the command below for each of the downloaded McIDAS-X files.
1. Log on to the McIDAS-X workstation as user mcidas .
2. Change to the ~mcidas directory.
3. Insert the upgrade CD in the drive and run a command similar to the one below to copy the files. Specify cdrom as the file system mount point of your CD unit. Note the period (. ) at the end of the command.
