McIDAS-X 2006 User's Guide
HTML Download Instructions

The McIDAS User's Guide version 2006 was distributed 26 May 2006. Follow the instructions below to update the HTML version of the manual on your local web server.

You can obtain the McIDAS User's Guide files through this web page using your site's login and password (which was also listed on the cover letter that was enclosed with the upgrade package mailed to your site coordinator). If you do not know the login and password, ask your site coordinator. If you have a problem obtaining these files via the web, ask your site coordinator to contact the McIDAS Help Desk by e-mail or by phone at (608) 262-2455.

To download the McIDAS User's Guide in HTML format:

1. Download the following file to a directory on your hard drive.
   Note: Step 2 will fail if the names of the downloaded files do not exactly match those listed below. If your web browser changes the names of the files during download (e.g., users_guide2006.tar.Z becomes users_guide2006_tar.Z), you must rename the files to those below.

2. Uncompress users_guide2006.tar.Z and create the users_guide2006 directory, which contains the 443 .HTML, .gif, and .css files necessary to view the McIDAS User's Guide in HTML format.
   
   UNIX Users -
   From the unix prompt, type: uncompress < users_guide2006.tar.Z | tar xf -
   
   Windows XP Users -
   From a local file manager (e.g., Windows Explorer), double-click users_guide2006.tar.Z to run WinZip, which will decompress the tar file and extract the files.
