Addenda and Important Notices

If an important McIDAS-X or -XCD software modification is required between scheduled upgrades, SSEC distributes a software addendum. For example, if we find a significant bug soon after an upgrade is distributed, SSEC makes the software fix available via an addendum. SSEC also distributes an addendum if a change to a real-time data source occurs, such as a new satellite becoming operational or the National Weather Service changing surface data or weather watch formats. In almost all cases, the modifications are included in the next Fastrack release and next upgrade.

If an important change occurs that doesn't require a software modification, we post a notice in the Addenda and Important Notices section so sites can see it and take the appropriate action. This may include planning information for sites, such as a notice that we plan to support the next McIDAS-X upgrade on a newer operating system version.

SSEC also notifies site coordinators of new addenda and important notices via e-mail or postal mail.
