Sunset Date for McIDAS-OS2

In response to several requests we have decided to move the sunset date for McIDAS OS2 from July 1999 to December 31, 1999.

The November Upgrade (7.5) will still be the final software release for McIDAS-OS2 but we will provide support through December 31, 1999.

The November 1998 release (7.5) of McIDAS will be the last release for McIDAS-OS2. This release will contain all the necessary Year 2000 fixes.

The sunset date for McIDAS-OS2 is tentatively scheduled for July 1999. If July 1999 is a concern, we can discuss this at the McIDAS Users' Group meeting in October.

In order to keep McIDAS available on the low cost Intel based PC, we plan to support McIDAS on PCs running the Solaris x86 operating system and PCs running Microsoft NT with the Softway Systems INTERIX (formerly known as OpenNT). We have been testing with x86 and INTERIX and have some bugs but nothing that would appear to be a "show stopper". We hope to have McIDAS available with INTERIX and x86 early in 1999.
