August 2012 SDI POES
Binary Updates for Kwajalein
This page contains access to, and instructions for installing, SDI POES binaries that were updated to improve handling of signal noise issues. The binaries have been tested here at SSEC and at the NWS in Hawaii on SDI-104 systems. Both sites reported many fewer segmented passes after installing the updated binaries. The updated binaries are biphase, inge and undouble. Rather than packaging them in a completely new version (like 2005jun01),
we are distributing the updated binaries for you to install in
the /opt/poes/bin directory.
You can obtain the files in step 4 below if
you purchased MUG support for your SDI POES system or have been
contacted and been given approval by SSEC. You will be prompted for your site's
login and password when you attempt to download the installation files. If
you do not know the login and password, ask your site coordinator. If you
know the login and password and still have a problem obtaining these files
via the web, ask your site coordinator to contact the McIDAS Help Desk by
e-mail or by phone at (608) 262-2455.
Complete the following steps to obtain and install the software.
- Login to the SDI POES workstation as user root.
- Change to the /opt/poes/bin directory .
- Make backup copies of the existing biphase, inge and undouble binaries
by renaming them with a .bak extension..

- Install the updated binaries by downloading the following three files to the /opt/poes/bin directory.
File name |
Size |

biphase |
9 KB |

inge |

the correct permissions.

- Stop and then restart the ingestor.
