Note: This update summary is a copy of an email sent 13 June 2000 to SDI sites.

13 June 2000

SSEC Desktop Ingestor (SDI) Administrator,

SDI version 2000jun06 was recently added to the MUG Web Site (https://www.ssec.wisc.edu/mcidas/) . See the SDI page by clicking "SSEC Desktop Ingestor (SDI)" in the Software section along the left side of the main page. From the SDI page you can select version 2000jun06 or any other available version of SDI software.

Read the section below that corresponds to your type of ingestor (GMS, GVAR, Meteosat, NOAAPORT, or POES) to determine if version 2000jun06 affects your ingestor and if/when SSEC recommends that you install it.

I. GMS Ingestors
Version 2000jun06 contains changes that correct a problem related to leap years. Therefore, SSEC recommends that version 2000jun06 be installed as soon as possible on your GMS ingestors.

II. GVAR Ingestors
Version 2000jun06 contains updates to the GVAR ingestor to handle GOES-11 calibration and priority interrupt schedules. Therefore, SSEC recommends that version 2000jun06 be installed as soon as possible on your GVAR ingestors.

III. Meteosat Ingestors
Version 2000jun06 does not contain updates to the Meteosat ingestor. The most recent Meteosat ingestor changes appeared in version 1999nov29, so your ingestor is up-to-date if it's running version 1999nov29 or later.

IV. NOAAPORT Ingestors
Version 2000jun06 contains updates to the NOAAPORT ingestor that better differentiate binary and text data, and that affect GINI data ingesting. Therefore, SSEC recommends that version 2000jun06 be installed as soon as possible on your NOAAPORT ingestors.
Note: NOAAPORT SDI is supported by SSEC outside of the MUG. Report any questions regarding this NOAAPORT SDI upgrade to your SSEC Program Manager.

V. POES Ingestors
Version 2000jun06 contains changes to decode NOAA-15 HIRS/3, AMSU-A and AMSU-B POES data. Therefore, SSEC recommends that version 2000jun06 be installed as soon as possible on your POES ingestors that will be decoding HIRS/3, AMSU-A and AMSU-B data.

If you have any questions about or have problems installing the GMS, GVAR, Meteosat or POES SDI software, please contact the McIDAS Help Desk. If you have any questions about or have problems installing the NOAAPORT SDI software, please contact your SSEC Program Manager.
