SSEC Data Center names.gvar files

This page contains the names.gvar files used in the SSEC Data Center's SDI and SDI-104 GOES ingestors. They are provided for reference only; other SDI sites will often choose different settings in their versions of the file.

The current and stable versions of the files on the SSEC Data Center's GOES-East, GOES-West and GOES-South America ingestors are available below. An automated process, where a script is run at 23:55 UTC each day, is used to check whether each names.gvar file on the servers have been updated. If it has, the script then copies the file to the appropriate "Current" link below and renames it to names.gvar.<location>.yyyyddd, where <location> is "east", "west" or "sa", and yyyyddd is the Julian date. A "log" link is also added to list the log entry filed by the operator who edited the names.gvar file.

If the names.gvar file has not been updated for ten or more days, it is also put into the appropriate "Stable" link and the archive below it.
