SSEC Desktop Ingestor (SDI) version 2001jan26 Software and Instructions
You can obtain the SDI version 2001jan26 files through this Web page if you purchased MUG support for your SDI systems or have been contacted and been given apporoval by SSEC. You will be prompted for your site's login and password when you attempt to download the installation files. If you do not know the login and password, ask your site coordinator. If you know the login and password and still have a problem obtaining these files via the Web, ask your site coordinator to contact the McIDAS Help Desk by e-mail or by phone at (608) 262-2455.
Note: Before installing the software, you may want to view the SSEC Desktop Ingestor (SDI) Changes page to see the list of changes for all versions of SDI available on the MUG Web Site. You can also print or download the file for future reference.
Complete the following steps to obtain and install the SDI software.
- Download the following two files to the ~mcadde directory on your SDI ingestor. If you ftp the files from another workstation, be sure to use binary file transfers.

- Log on to the ingestor as root. Run all commands below from the ~mcadde directory.
- Install SDI version 2001jan26 using the appropriate command below. Note: SSEC recommends installing only the ingestor software (second command below) on SDI NOAAPORT machines that are also running McIDAS-XCD.
To install the ingestor and server software,
Type: sh ./sdi2001jan26.sh install
To install the ingestor software only,
Type: sh ./sdi2001jan26.sh install ingestors
To install the server software only,
Type: sh ./sdi2001jan26.sh install servers
- Stop and then restart the ingestor.
