Here's the composite list of released modules for this Fastrack release of
the McIDAS-X package. The numbers at the beginning are the SSEC inquiry
system numbers.

This version (2006b) is the second intermediate release after the May 2006
McIDAS-X upgrade (version 2006). Subsequent intermediate releases will
contain all changes in the previous intermediate releases. For example,
version 2006e will contain all changes in versions 2006a, 2006b, ... 2006e.

The database used by the TOWNS and FIND commands was updated to 
include all "Populated Places" for the United States and it's

The Goddard DACC started compressing the Scientific Datasets 
with their MODIS L1B granual files. This internal compression caused 
the MODIS image services to slow down dramatically. The MODIS Level 1b 
servers were updated to check for the INFO=HDFCOMPRESS tag in the local 
dataset definition. This will signal the server to change the internal 
I/O from line-by-line to entire image band read. This will speed up all 
single band ADDE requests, and will only allow single band transfers if 
INFO=HDFCOMPRESS is specified. For all multi-band transfers, the mode 
will remain line-by-line.

When displaying band 26 MODIS data, the output was being 
displayed differently from the server vs. being IMGCOPY'd and then 
displayed locally. Users who had noticed this problem should no longer 
see the differences in the displayed imagery.

The spacecraft address for NOAA-18 was updated in the raw POES 
ADDE server. The correct version has been running on the SDIs since May

what is in the SEVIRI Pre-processing Toolbox (SPT). For MSG bands 5 to 
10, temperature differences of up to 2 degrees were seen. AREA files 
created before this fix will have the incorrect temperatures. Raw data 
files accessed with servers compiled with this change will now show the 
correct temperatures.

NOAA level 1b images that contain both Band 3a (The band 3 in 
the visible, band 6 in McIDAS) and Band 3b (Band 3 in the infrared) 
were not being handled correctly. If the band 3 switches to band 6 (or 
vice versa) halfway through the image as the satellite moves from night 
to day (or vice versa), the McIDAS commands can now detect both bands 
correctly.
