for McIDAS-X
For versions distributed in 2013, McIDAS-X is supported on systems running Apple Mac OS X, HP-UX, Microsoft Windows XP with Services for Unix, Microsoft
Windows 7 Enterprise with Subsystem for UNIX-based Applications, Red Hat
Linux or Sun Solaris. The section below lists the 2014 operating system
support plans for each vendor supported by McIDAS User Services. Please
check the plans for your current operating system(s) and contact the
McIDAS
Help Desk if you have any questions or concerns about the plans.
Refer to the current Supported
System Configurations list for the currently supported
platforms and versions.
Vendor: Apple
Continuing support of Mac OS X 10.7 and 10.8.
We will evaluate 10.9 when it's supported at the University of Wisconsin SSEC.
Vendor: Microsoft
Continuing support of Windows 7 Enterprise with Subsystem for UNIX-based Applications (SUA).
Vendor: Red Hat
Continuing support of 6.x Intel, 5.x Intel and 5.x PPC.
We will evaluate 7.0 when it's supported at the University of Wisconsin SSEC.
Vendor: Sun / Oracle
Continuing support of Solaris 10 on SPARC and x86. (Note: The Solaris
operating system is now maintained by Oracle. SSEC
tests on Sun Solaris 10 which was purchased before Oracle acquired
Sun Microsystems.)
An end of life for Solaris 10 has not been announced, so we foresee
no changes in our support of Solaris 10.
Note: McIDAS-X is no longer supported on SGI IRIX, IBM AIX, HP-UX or Windows XP systems.
It was last supported on IRIX in McIDAS-X 2010.1, AIX in McIDAS-X 2011.1, and HP-UX and Windows XP in McIDAS-X 2012.2.
