for XP Version 2007
Software and Instructions
Note: You must be running Services For Unix 3.5
or greater in order to run McIDAS-X for XP version 2007.
Windows Services for Unix 3.5 is available for free at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads.
McIDAS-X Version 2007 was distributed on 25 May 2007. You can obtain the files
through this web page using your site's login and password (which was also listed
on the cover letter that was enclosed with the upgrade letter e-mailed to your
site coordinator). If you do not know the login and password, ask your site coordinator.
If you have a problem obtaining these files via the web, ask your site coordinator
to contact the McIDAS Help Desk by
e-mail or by phone at (608) 262-2455.
Complete the following steps to obtain and install the upgrade.
- Download the following nine files to the ~mcidas directory
on your McIDAS workstation.
Note: The McIDAS-X installation will fail if the names
of the downloaded files do not exactly match those listed below. If your Web
browser changes the names of the files during download (e.g., mcidas2007.tar.gz becomes mcidas2007_tar.gz),
you must rename the files to those below before installing McIDAS-X.

Version 2007 Upgrade Procedure, May 2007 (pdf). This document,
which was also included in the upgrade letter e-mailed to your site coordinator,
contains an overview of McIDAS-X 2007 and specific instructions to follow
before, during, and after installing McIDAS 2007. We strongly urge that
all regular users of McIDAS-X (not just the installer) read this document.
