GRIB2 Bugs in McIDAS-X and -XCD 2006c
This file contains the list of known GRIB2-related bugs that are in
the McIDAS-X and -XCD Fastrack version 2006c releases. These releases
make up the special beta release of the McIDAS GRIB server that's been
updated to support GRIB2.
If your site installs the 2006c software and you find GRIB2-related
bugs, please check the list below to see if the bug has already been
reported. If the bug is not in the list below, please report it to
the McIDAS Help Desk.

The known GRIB2 bugs are listed below. The SSEC inquiry system number
is indicated in the ending square brackets.
- GRIB1 global stitched grids are not working properly. [Inquiry

- Local GRIB2 files do not work on 64 bit Linux machines. [Inquiry

- Create a slightly new dataset naming convention, because of all
of the new types of data that could be coming in GRIB2 format. [Inquiry

- GRDLIST FORM=ALL should be updated, so that GRIB2 files list the
Geographic and Parameter IDs as N/A or X. With
this change, then the GRIB IDs would still be listed in the order
that the GRIB= keyword requires. [Inquiry

- Dateline problems with some ABOM GRID files. [Inquiry

- Local GRIB datasets do not handle position numbers correctly.

- If the level is four characters, the GRDDISP annotation line does
not have room to display all four characters. [Inquiry

- GRDDISP RTGRIB2/GFS-PRME plots a map over Puerto Rico, but no
data plots. [Inquiry

- Some datasets have missing values of 9999 instead
of x80808080 (e.g., GFS-USLCAWI4, NDF-USLCAWI4,

- The RTMA GRIB2 files appear to be 1-second grids instead of 1-hour

Additional notes:
- We've had many problems with the units being sent in the GRIB2
files are not what are advertised by NCEP/WMO. If you see any
units problems, please
let us know.
- We still need to do a full system test of GRIB1 data with the
updated GRIB server.
- Additional testing of Ensemble datasets [Inquiry
13284] is needed.
