McIDAS-XCD Text Ingestor Addendum
Software and Instructions

This is the first addendum to the May 2005 McIDAS-XCD upgrade, version 2005. The McIDAS-XCD text ingestor was updated to accommodate an unannounced change in the NOAAPORT data stream, which no longer contained <CR> characters at the end of some text strings.

If you downloaded the McIDAS-XCD 2005 installation files prior to June 24th, follow the instructions below. If you downloaded the McIDAS-XCD 2005 installation files on or after June 24th, you may disregard this addendum as the installation files have been modified to incorporate the new text ingestor software.

Required Action:

If you are interested in obtaining the text ingestor changes, follow the steps below.

1. Turn off McIDAS-XCD and make sure that all related processes have exited.
   
2. Download the file ingetext.pgm to your ~oper/mcidas/xcd2005/src directory.
   
3. Set the McIDAS-XCD environment for compiling;

   Type:  cd  ~oper/mcidas/xcd2005
   Type:  .  ./xcd_init

4. Compile the new code;

   Type:  make install.bin

5. Restart McIDAS-XCD
