A Message From the Editor

As you may have noticed, we are trying out a new format for the in-house "Employee Newsletter." Obviously, it is work in progress. Everything from the title ("From Orbit") to the layout and structure is open for suggestion, debate, and revision.

We tried to create a format that highlights the general news stories while at the same time making the monthly "Director's Note" and specific departmental updates easily accessible.

Note that on the Front Page we have links to pages that should be filled with updates from any and all departments within the Center. Have we left any departments out that would like to have their own page? Just let us know. Ideally, we will field submissions from each department, updating their page on a monthly basis. We will be sending out reminder emails each month. If you would like to name someone within your department as a "Lead Contact," that would be great.

Also, we would welcome any ideas from the departments about how to "personalize" the look and feel of their page in the Newsletter. Graphics? Photos? Stories about your pets? We are not trying for a "cookie cutter" effect.

Accessibility and usability are primary concerns. We realize that many people will be accessing this publication on many different devices, from the desktop to the laptop to the handheld. Our goal is to deliver an easy, pleasurable, and rewarding experience.
