Channel Mixer

Description:

This RCO lets you apply data from a single MODIS or other instrument channel to each of the Red, Green, and Blue color components of a new, generated image. This capability can allow visualization of otherwise undetectable features. For example, some channel combinations will result in a "true color" effect, and other channel combinations may allow features like ice to stand out.

The instructor must provide an image set in a standard web format (such as .gif or .jpg).

The sample XML file provided below must be populated with appropriate data (in this case, the image file names are all that is required) and placed in the same location as the HTML file used to access and present this RCO.

How to use

  1. Create an HTML file which will reference and load this RCO. Cut-and-paste the sample applet tag below and insert at the location in the HTML file you want to use the RCO.
  2. Create an XML file with input data based on the example below, referencing the image files you wish to use to create new imagery.
  3. Download the RCO by right-clicking the download link below and choosing "Save Link Target As..."
  4. Edit the applet tag parameters to reference your new file names, and test.
