A very large high in the northernmost Canadian Islands, extended southwestward into the Beaufort Sea. SHEBA ship was just west of this high while Barrow felt its effects. Few clouds were over Barrow. A few small clouds can be seen on the satellite images. Cirrus can be seen a far to the west and some altostratus can be seen over the Beaufort Sea to the north east, but Barrow was mostly clear.
The trajectories to SHEBA ship show air from all levels coming from the south. The surface and 1.0 km trajectories cross Alaska and then go southeastward into the North Pacific Ocean. The high level trajectories trace across Alaska into the Bering Sea and the Aleutian Islands.
The trajectories to Barrow show all air coming acrossed Alaska from the south. The surface trajectory has a slightly more eastward origin in the Pacific than the higher levels. However, this air had to cross the Alaskan mountain range so its validity can be doubted. All other altitudes show air coming from the Aleutian Islands region of the North Pacific Ocean.
