The large high continues to occupy the Beaufort Sea. It is centered northeast of SHEBA ship. A low is centered in southwestern Alaska. Barrow and the Arcitc Coast are under northeasterly winds between the two systems.
Alto-stratus clouds cover most of the coast around Barrow. These clouds are high enough to cast shadows on the visible satellite image and appear moderately cold on the infrared image. Some light cirrus can be seen far south of Barrow and over the Chukchi Sea west of Icy Cape.
The trajectories to SHEBA ship show the air at all levels coming from the vicinty of the ship. These short trajectories are a result of the very light winds in the high pressure system which didn't move in the last six days.
The trajectories to Barrow show the low level air coming from the eastern Beaufort Sea. The surface air appears to have come from the north around the east side of the high pressure system while the 1.0 and 1.5 km air came from western Canada. The higher altitude air came from the Pacific Ocean along the western Canadian coast south of Juneau.
