I am a native Coloradan and got my undergraduate degree in Engineering-Physics from the University of Colorado at Boulder. While getting my B.S., I started working at the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) in Boulder. Professionally I characterized UV and visible detectors for various remote sensing applications for projects including SORCE, MESSENGER and AIM. While at LASP, I became interested in not just the hands-on aspects of the projects I was involved with but also the science underlying the practical applications. I moved to Madison in June 2009 with my wife, who started her pediatrics residency at the University of Wisconsin. I started working at the Space Science and Engineering Center shortly thereafter and then began my graduate studies in January 2010 in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences
