BACKGROUND
NOTE: The
1-minute data provided by GOES-10 will end as of 2240 UTC on 2 October
2006. This is to avoid interference with communications as
the satellite is approaching
GOES-13. GOES-10 will start imaging again in mid November after
it passes GOES-12. However, GOES-10 is scheduled to provide South
America support at that time.
While being repositioned to the east, the GOES-10 satellite has been
providing 1-minute imagery. The area of coverage was
over portions of the south central and southeast U.S. The
1-minute images were available from 00-22 and 30-50 minutes after each
hour. An archive of these images from late August through September is
available from:
ftp://ftp.ssec.wisc.edu/rabin/goes10
Note: If your browser has trouble loading the full sized images in
Table 1, 1) try using the reduced sized images in Table 2. , or 2)
increase the memory allocated to java applications in your browser by
following these steps for an Out of
Memory Error (thanks to Tom Whittaker).
Table
1. Full sized images
The following table contains 30-minute
loops for hours from 12 through 23 UTC.
Table
2. Reduced sized images
The following table contains 30-minute
loops for hours from 12 through 23 UTC.
Java based applications used for interactive animations were
developed
by Tom Whittaker of the Space Science and Engineering Center SSEC,
University of Wisconsin-Madison. The animations can take a while
to load, depending on network speed, computer systems, etc. Also, there
can be a problem viewing these on certain machines (Macs).
Disclaimer. The products from GOES or other
satellites
shown here are experimental. These have been generated within a
research environment and are not intended to be considered operational.
Timeliness, availability, and accuracy are sought but not guaranteed.
