My Dear Draper:

At one time in the past, I think you gave me a copy of a Pamphlet -- descriptive catalogue, possibly of the Potrait Gallery of the State Historical Socy. Desiring to refer to it, I have made a search for it, but without success. If not troubling you too much, it will be esteemed a favor to get a copy of same.

It is presumed you are occupying your new quarters in the Capitol; and find them every way more agreeable than those in the old part of the Building. Not having seen report of the proceedings at the annual meeting, or the dedication of the new rooms, may ask the favor of you to send me a copy.

The paltry sum which has been paid you, for the valuable services rendered the people of the State, through the Hist'l Soc'y is, in my judgement, simply disgraceful; and such a state of things ought not to continue longer.

Is it not a favorable time for your friends to present this matter to the Legislature -- with some hope that tardy justice be done you? Is nothing being done to this end? To delay seems criminal, With kindest regards to yourself and Mrs. D. I remain,

Sincerely your friend,
S. V. Shipman
