Chicago, Mar. 25th 1878

My Dear Draper:

Your favor of the 22nd inst is read and contents noted.

You are to be congratulated on the dispersion of the Legislature, without action detrimental to the interests of your Society.

The enlargement contemplated ought not to have been made to the Capitol. Until something respectable can be done in the way of providing the necessary accommodations, the matter had better rest where it now is.

My knowledge of the "Pulvermacher bath" is very limited. I have never used one, and on inquiring among Druggists, and my friends have found no one who has, or whose friends have.

I would not use one without the advice of a physician. If the bath has power to benefit cases where electricity is required, it may also do harm in cases where not appropriate.

I hope your "Mechlenbury" is soon to be placed in the hands of the public. Do not let a good opportunity pass unimproved. Let Society matters take their course, and you bring out something of your own. Try that plan, for a while at least, and then you may the more easily cut loose from the Soc'y.

Am very busy at present, with my most important job in Chicago.

Nothing specially new to speak of with me. With kind remembrance to Mrs. Draper and other friends I remain

Very truly your friend,
S. V. Shipman
