{"id":1120,"date":"2017-07-06T16:46:28","date_gmt":"2017-07-06T21:46:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ssec.wisc.edu\/aeri\/?page_id=1120"},"modified":"2022-03-09T18:13:53","modified_gmt":"2022-03-09T18:13:53","slug":"adc-board-replacement","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ssec.wisc.edu\/aeri\/kb\/procedures\/repair\/adc-board-replacement\/","title":{"rendered":"ADC Board Replacement"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Tools and Equipment Required<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Hex driver set<\/li>\n<li>Phillips drivers<\/li>\n<li>Replacement ADC boards<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div style=\"background-color: #fcf8e3\">\n<h3>Precaution<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The electronic boards are static sensitive. &nbsp;Always wear an anti-static wrist strap when handling electronic boards.<\/li>\n<li>Keep the optics compartment clean!\n<ul>\n<li>Be careful reaching into the interferometer from the top, wear gloves if necessary to prevent contamination of the optics<\/li>\n<li>Cover the top of the interferometer box when not actively working inside<\/li>\n<li>Look for and clean up any debris that may have fallen into the optics compartment<\/li>\n<li>Be attentive to not drop screws and washers in the optics compartment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Procedure<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Stop data collection and power OFF the instrument.<\/li>\n<li>Remove the top cover of the interferometer box (16x hex screws). &nbsp;<strong>Use all precautions necessary to keep the optics compartment clean, and do not touch any of the optics (mirrors)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Disconnect the ADC harness using the thumb screws (P205 for MCT Channel 1; P206 for InSb Channel 2).<\/li>\n<li>Unscrew the 2x phillips screws holding the ADC case to the interferometer box structure (see Fig. 1).<\/li>\n<li>Carefully de-mate the ADC case from the preamp case below.<\/li>\n<li>Open the ADC case by unscrewing all of the necessary screws (see Fig. 2).<\/li>\n<li>Remove the ADC board.&nbsp; <strong>Be sure to avoid static discharges by wearing an anti-static wrist strap.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Install the replacement ADC board.<\/li>\n<li>Close the ADC case by replacing all the necessary screws (see Fig. 2).<\/li>\n<li>Carefully re-mate the ADC case to the preamp case.<\/li>\n<li>Attach the ADC case to the interferometer box structure using the 2x phillips screws (see Fig. 1).<\/li>\n<li>Reconnect the ADC harness and secure using the thumb screws.<\/li>\n<li>Replace the top cover of the interferometer box (16x hex screws).<\/li>\n<li>Power ON the instrument and return to operation.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ssec.wisc.edu\/aeri\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2017\/07\/IMG_9701_annotated.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-1126\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ssec.wisc.edu\/aeri\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2017\/07\/IMG_9701_annotated-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ssec.wisc.edu\/aeri\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2017\/07\/IMG_9701_annotated-1024x768.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.ssec.wisc.edu\/aeri\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2017\/07\/IMG_9701_annotated-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.ssec.wisc.edu\/aeri\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2017\/07\/IMG_9701_annotated-768x576.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.ssec.wisc.edu\/aeri\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2017\/07\/IMG_9701_annotated.jpeg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Figure 1.
