Using Function Keys

If a command string is named KEYFn, where n is a number between 1 and 12, run the string by pressing the corresponding function key (F1 to F12). Strings named KEYAFn, KEYCFn or KEYSFn, are run by pressing the Alt, Ctrl or Shift key, and a function key at the same time. When you run the function key strings, McIDAS ignores the command line. This means that you can use a function key command even while entering a command on the command line. The function key combinations work correctly only if the workstation is configured according to the instructions in Configuring a New User Account.

The 48 function key combinations can also be used in a menuing system. See Chapter 5, F Key Menu System, for more information.
