Announcing the new ON-TIME, ON-LINE Time Sheet for Academic Staff.
Amanda Thornton and Bill Bellon have been working hard to improve our lives, again. Their latest creation is the above referenced “On-Time” (my addition and probably wishful thinking), On-Line web based time sheet.
Our goals are to implement a web-based time sheet that will be faster and easier to use and will eventually automatically load the time sheet data into our accounting system. This is a huge step in that direction.
The first phase of this implementation is for you to start using this time sheet, as soon as possible. For this first phase you will still print and sign your time sheet at the end of the month and turn it in to Debbie. The second phase (the paperless time sheets) will be implemented after the first phase is working well and we are all comfortable with it.
So please dig into this and let's get going. Please turn in your timesheet on Friday, 29 July 2011.

When you are ready to turn in your timesheet at the end of the month, please click 'Submit', then 'Print' and print out your timesheet, sign it, and bring it down to 3rd floor as usual. If you have already submitted your timesheet to 3rd floor using an old format, don't worry, you don't have to do it again this month. Please use this new format moving forward.
Current pros to using this new timesheet:
- Provides a uniform, platform agnostic input for timesheets with the least disruption to the existing work flow.
- Enables you to edit your timesheet from anywhere with internet access.
- Allows for real time checking of valid project numbers and total month hours.
- Enables you to customize the description of a project to something that makes sense to you.
- Enables you to view and track yearly vacation and sick leave usage including planning ahead for the year. (This assumes that you plug in the correct leave number to start the year).
- Provides an online calendar of legal and floating holiday hours.
- Presents all timesheet data in one place, in one format electronically.
Future pros to using this timesheet:
- Eventually, a paperless process.
- For Project Managers - the ability to view people’s time sheets during the month and before the timesheet is officially submitted to the accounting system.
