Hit the Pins for SSEC!

Hello!

It's been almost three years since Union South closed and left the SSEC Bowling League without a home. With the all new Union South now up and running across the street, we're ready to get the SSEC Bowling League up and running again, too. If you’re interested in joining the league and having a great time, sign up by sending an e-mail to me by Wednesday, September 21.

A little background:

The SSEC bowling league is a semi-official social function of SSEC. We bowl on our own time, not the Center's (but hey, you've got to take a lunch break anyway – save up a little time each week & have a REALLY FUN lunch break with a bunch of your friends). Anyone who works or is a student in the building can be in the league.

The games take place in the basement of Union South (in the Sett) on Fridays at 11:30 a.m. We have three person teams, and we bowl two games at a cost of $4.80+tax per person for bowling and $2.50+tax per person for shoes (with a discount if you are a student or union member). The scoring is handicapped, which means that whether you’re a lousy, so-so, good or great bowler, you’ll be competitive as far as the outcome is concerned. Last season, our average scores ranged from 68 up to 208 - truly something for everyone!

It’s a great way to get to know some of the folks in the Center that you may otherwise have very little contact with. Another plus – you may get the opportunity to publicly humiliate your boss/co-worker/whomever (or even yourself, if you’re like me) without any fear of meaningful retaliation. What better way to release all that workplace tension than pounding some bowling pins & in the process maybe getting a chance to whip the source of some of the tension as well?

If you're interested in joining the SSEC Bowling League for the semester, please let me know. We had some people drop for injuries, graduation, etc., so we have a few spots available.

The Bottom Line – it’s a lot of fun! We try not to be too serious, and just have a good time. Sign up NOW!

Thanks!

Becky Schaffer
