Comings:

nicholas brown Nicholas Brown

Nicholas is a student hourly working with Marlene McCaffery.

hao chen Hao Chen

Hao is an Honorary Fellow working with Bormin Huang.

He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Information Engineeringat the Harbin Institute of Technology in the People's Republic of China. His interests include: image and video compression; remote sensing data processing; GPU high performance computing.

  Abhishek Pandey

Abhishek will be working as a Project Assistant for Bormin.

"I am enjoying my time here, working with Dr. Bormin & his team. I am a 2nd year graduate student in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at UW Madison, pursuing a Masters in Computer architecture and High Performance Computing. My major interests lie in the areas of heterogeneous CPU-GPU systems, GPU based acceleration of algorithms and multi-core architecture. At SSEC, I am working under Dr. Bormin to accelerate modules present in Weather Research & Forecasting (WRF) model using GPGPUs."

mario drummond Mario Paolo Drummond

Mario is a student hourly working with Jarno Mielikainen.

"I am a senior undergraduate student on a interchange program from Brazil. My major is Electrical Engineering with minors in Computer Sciences. In Brazil I study at UFMG (Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais or Federal University of Minas Gerais). My main academic interest is computer architecture, but I like everything related to computer sciences. In SSEC I am working with Jarno Mielikainen converting fortran code to c.

"A random fact: I am a huge hockey fan, a fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs."

  Barbara Arvani Barbara is coming to SSEC as an Honorary Fellow, working with Steve Ackerman and Brad Pierce, from 01 April 2013 - 31 January 2014.  She has been here previously.
  Bethany Nelson

Bethany is the new Export Control Coordinator for campus and will be working with Tom Demke.

"I have a B.S. from UW-Milwaukee in Physics and a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School. I am working on export control issues, i.e. anything that the government may regulate in terms of certain countries you cannot ship to and certain items that have terrorism, nuclear etc. applications.

"Interests include reading, rock climbing, knitting, sewing, and general nerdy stuff like Dr. Who and sci-fi books and movies. I also have a cat if that is something newsworthy(I am sure she would think so).

"I've lived in Madison for almost 6 years and love the fact that I never run out of stuff to do here and that I always have access to great restaurants."
