SSEC/CIMSS Shine at State Fair
On 08 August 2012, Patrick Rowley and Britta Gjermo from CIMSS and Joey Snarski, David Mikolajczyk, Carol Costanza, and Jonathon Thom from the Antarctic Meteorological Research Center (AMRC) participated in UW-Madison Day at the Wisconsin State Fair. The beautiful weather brought out many people who had an opportunity to learn about weather and climate from our interactive touch screen applets and see Antarctic gear modeled by AMRC. After record-setting heat this summer, we pretended that the comfortable 70-degree temperatures was one of our "props"!

Aside from these experiences, many of the visitors also went away with information about our weather & climate applets, majoring in atmospheric sciences at UW-Madison, knowing more about the research done in our building, and even hurricane tattoos (temporary of course)! We walked away with cream puffs and food on a stick.
It was an excellent opportunity to both educate the public and promote CIMSS/SSEC research.
