The theme of the conference, <strong>\u201c<\/strong>Taking Predictions to the Next Level: Expanding Beyond Today&#8217;s Weather, Water, and Climate Forecasting and Projections,<strong>\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0was a good fit for the work being done at SSEC and CIMSS.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2193\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a posters on display delivered bySSEC\/CIMSS researchers and students covered topics as diverse as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>performance of instrumentation on the Suomi NPP;<\/li>\n<li>GOES-R Proving Ground experiments;<\/li>\n<li>collecting weather satellite data for mobile devices;<\/li>\n<li>evolution of global satellite composite imagery;<\/li>\n<li>tropical cyclone studies;<\/li>\n<li>advances in McIDAS-V satellite weather products;<\/li>\n<li>and outreach programs such as the CIMSS iPad Library and EarthNow&#8217;s Science on a Sphere.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Steve Ackerman, Director of CIMSS presented as part of the Panel of Teaching Award Winners.<\/p>\n<p>Tim Schmit served as a co-chair of the Future Operational Environmental Satellite Systems symposium, and gave two oral presentations related to the Advanced Baseline Imager (ABI) on GOES-R.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ssec.wisc.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2013\/01\/ams_booth_565_581.jpg\"><img align=\"center\"><em>SSEC maintained an exhibit booth during the meeting demonstrating some of the Center\u2019s latest research, providing close-up looks at the 3-D globe, and allowing visitors to sample the full release version of\u00a0McIDAS-V\u2019s visualization tools.<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a
