The following are often confused with ice shelves but are not the same:

Not an example Glacier

A large body of land ice moving slowly down a slope or valley or spreading outward on a land surface.

Not an example Iceberg

A large piece of floating ice that has calved, or broken off a glacier or an ice shelf.

Not an example Ice sheets

Thick glacier covering a large area - over 50,000 km - and moving outward in all directions covering the underlying topography of the land.
