Use of AMV Cross Correlation Matrices and the NWP guess to further explore accuracy of AMVs

In a previous study (reported in iwwg 2021) the value of using the structure of the cross correlation matrices was demonstrated. A simple index, computed from each of these matrices, was used to compute an improved AMV QI value.

This study shows a series of AMVs cases for differing cloud types and geographical regions. The AMV processing code from the NWCSAF package together with innervations from the MetOffice meso model are used in the study.
