AOSS 2018 Photo Contest

May 7, 2018 | Eric Verbeten

Capturing the spectrum of the natural world, the Atmospheric, Oceanic, and Space Sciences (AOSS) photo contest each year encourages photographers to find nature at its most intense moments as well as its most subtle. These images from around the world reveal the complexity underlying our world of weather and systems that govern it.

The winning entry, Touch the Sky, was submitted by Kelton Halbert, of the UW-Madison Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences Department. Presented below in the slideshow are the top three, the honorable mentions, along with all of the stunning pictures submitted for 2018. Congratulations to the winners and thanks to all the participants who made this year’s contest another success.

The contest is administered by the Space Science and Engineering Center.
