Seize the Day: Day of the Badger, April 5-6

March 16, 2022 | R. Bradley Pierce

The Day of the Badger returns April 5–6! It is a spirited and fun 1848 minutes of giving to help the UW – and SSEC and CIMSS – continue to grow support for our mission.

This year, thanks to George R. Diak, retired SSEC senior research scientist and UW-Madison alumnus, gifts will be matched dollar-for-dollar – up to $10,000. We are grateful for George’s commitment:

“My undergraduate academic record was less than stellar, but Professor Suomi gave me the benefit of the doubt and hired me as a research assistant, a decision for which I will forever owe him and SSEC a great deal. In this spirit, I am happy to be able to provide a similar opportunity to students interested in the potential contributions of satellite data to earth science.” – George Diak

Like George, this is your opportunity to share your story about the importance of research and education at SSEC and CIMSS and in the process, show your Badger pride. Join us on social media by promoting our posts, creating your own or spreading the word among your colleagues and friends; whatever works for you. Be sure to tag #dayofthebadger.

Your gift of any size will provide direct support to a promising student. And, it will continue a longstanding tradition at SSEC of providing financial support for graduate research assistant opportunities as well as undergraduate opportunities.

On Wisconsin!
