NSF GEO

The SPARC is part of the U.S. National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Research Infrastructure for the Geosciences.

In order to facilitate fundamental research in the atmospheric sciences, the SPARC & SPARClet instruments and facilities are available for request under the Geosciences Research: Atmospheric, Geospace, Earth, and Ocean Sciences (GEO Core) solicitation. This replaces the previous Facility and Instrumentation Request Process (FIRP) solicitation.

The SPARC can be requested for both scientific and educational field campaigns, with proposal due dates typically 9 months prior to field activity, depending on the complexity of the campaign.

Field campaign infrastructure is provided by the SPARC team at UW-SSEC.

UW-SSEC scientists are available to collaborate on field campaign science.

For inquiries about requesting use of the SPARC, please contact the SPARC Principal Investigators.
