McIDAS Users’ Group (MUG)

The MUG Policy Document and McIDAS Software Policies (linked above) include information on copyrights, distribution policies, definitions, rights and responsibilities of users, sponsors and sponsored users.

The McIDAS Users’ Group (MUG) is a subscription-basis membership group that pools its subscription fees to pay for the maintenance and upgrades of McIDAS software and documentation. The MUG has been in existence since 1989 and is administered by the Space Science and Engineering Center (SSEC) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The MUG is self-supported through annual subscription fees paid by its members to SSEC. The fees provide SSEC with the financial support necessary to provide the following services to MUG members:

  • software maintenance (bug fixes) and improvements (new features and enhancements) to the suite of McIDAS software packages
  • creation and distribution of updated software packages and documentation
  • user assistance through McIDAS User Services
  • information transfer through this website and other avenues
  • information exchange between sites through the mcidas-users email list
  • annual MUG Meeting to exchange information and provide feedback for the system’s evolution
  • maintenance of this McIDAS Website

Please email any questions you have about joining the MUG.
