McIDAS-X Fastrack Version 2007b
MSG Radiance Change Release Notes

The Meteosat Second Generation (MSG) servers and calibration modules were updated in McIDAS-X Fastrack version 2007b to accommodate the upcoming change from spectral to effective radiance in the MSG HRIT signal. As of 25 March 2008, EUMETSAT's planned implementation date for the radiance change is 05 May 2008.

Preliminary area test sets and information regarding these changes are available here.

Client and Server Compatibility Information

  • Old Server - Old/New Client:
    • data will still be served correctly
    • applications will work correctly
    • users will not be able to identify whether effective of spectral radiance values are being sent
    • updated calibration coefficients will not be available (less than 0.1 degree temperature differences)
  • New Server - Old/New Client
    • data will still be served correctly
    • applications will work correctly
    • users will be able to identify whether effective of spectral radiance values are being sent by looking at the calibration block
    • updated calibration coefficients will be available (less than 0.1 degree temperature differences)
