Who Should Attend? | Most McIDAS sites benefit from a combination of programmers, managers, forecasters, researchers, system administrators, and operations staff. | |
Registration | To register, go to the MUG Meeting Registration Form. The registration deadline is Wednesday 21 September 2016. Check-in will take place in the hour before your first event (i.e., 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. Monday or Tuesday if attending training; 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Wednesday if attending only the meeting) at the event location. |

Parking | Because parking is very limited in the area around the meeting and training site (Union South / SSEC; see Google map), we encourage you to travel to and from it by a means other than car. Options include walking (the two hotels in the Lodging and Transportation section below are between 100 feet and 0.4 mile from Union South), using your hotel’s van/limousine service, taxi, or using the Madison Metro bus service (fares are currently $2.00). If you must park, see the Google map for the locations of two suggested UW lots – 80 and 17 – and the UW Transportation Services Visitor Hourly parking page for additional information (e.g., access, rates and payment methods) about those lots. |

- The two hotels below are not mandatory; they are suggested options based on location, rates, and comments from attendees at past meetings.
- The Federal Government per diem rate for Madison is currently $105. At hotels that offer that rate, you must be able to provide proof that you qualify, e.g., show your Federal picture ID at check-in.

- • Wisconsin Union Hotel
This hotel is located in the meeting location (Union South). Rooms are available at a group rate of $147.00 per night for the nights of Sunday 13 November through Thursday 17 November for standard rooms, with a reservation deadline of the morning of Tuesday 18 October. Reservations can be made online via the hotel’s Reservations page using group code MUG2016. Or call the Wisconsin Union Hotel at 608-263-2600 and specify that you wish to reserve a room held in the “McIDAS Users’ Group Meeting” block with group code MUG2016.

A limited number of rooms may be available at the Federal rate. Federal Government employees should call to ask about availability of rooms at these rooms. You will also be required to present your Federal picture ID at check-in.
The Wisconsin Union Hotel opened in 2011 and its amenities include complimentary parking for one vehicle per room, free internet, Keurig coffee maker, mini-refrigerator, microwave, 42″ flat panel TV and 24-hour fitness center.

Rooms are available at a group rate of $139.00 per night for the nights of Monday 14 November through Wednesday 16 November, with a reservation deadline of Monday 17 October. Online reservations are not available; you must call HotelRED at 608-819-8228 and specify that you wish to reserve a room held under the “MUG, McIDAS Users’ Group Meeting” group rate.A limited number of rooms may be available at the Federal rate. Federal Government employees should call to ask about availability of rooms at these rooms. You will also be required to present your Federal picture ID at check-in.HotelRED opened in 2011 and its amenities include complimentary parking on a first-come basis, complimentary airport shuttle (based on availability), free internet, in-room safe, and fitness center.

Note: SSEC reserves the right to modify or cancel the meeting and/or training sessions if the number of registrations do not meet that needed to sufficiently cover the costs. The registration deadline is September 21st, and any decision to cancel the meeting and/or training will be made by October 1st. SSEC also reserves the right to limit the number of attendees per site or organization due to limited space in the MUG Meeting facilities (auditorium and computer labs).
