AMVs (Atmospheric Motion Vector) from multiple platforms are assimilated operationally in NWP models at NCMRWF (National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting), MoES (Ministry of Earth Sciences). Since last few years, AMV coverage and their availability have increased both temporally and spatially over the global scale. Quality assessment and monitoring of this new dataset is essential for their acceptance into the operational system. The present research focuses on the quality & impact assessment of AMVs derived from the satellites FY, KMA, INSAT, MetOP and Himawari. The study uses the Grid point Statistical Interpolation (GSI) analysis scheme in association with the Global Forecast System (GFS).
